Tell me what you want, what you really, really want

For many people, dealing with their finances and therefore their accountant, may be seen as a necessary evil. Something that is only needed to comply with laws and regulations and keep the taxman at bay. It doesn't have to be this way. It really does pay to talk to us before making a significant change such as a major purchase, sale or any kind of transfer just to make sure you are not leaving yourself with a large potential bill either now or in the future. Our fixed price structure at Insight means you will never be charged for picking up the phone so why not talk to us?

The other problem with only dealing with us when the statutory accounts or tax returns are due is that by its very nature the information is out of date before we even start. Access to cloud accounting means that we could work with your real time data to provide business information that could actually be useful in running your business. Our Insight with the numbers programme is designed to help with this.

However, it is not for us to decide what information is useful to you and your business. Of course, there are some common measures of success such as growth in turnover, profits or net assets but any one of these on its own may not give the full (or a true) picture of the health of the business.

For an owner managed business how much does the data matter as long as the bank account is healthy and you are able to extract enough to fund the lifestyle you want? Probably not much in the short term if I am being honest but what about when it comes to plans for the future? Is your business going where you want it to? If not, do you know why?

Have you thought about how you will exit the business and what you might want to happen to it afterwards?

Whatever stage you are at and even if you are undecided we are here to discuss the options and what actions might be needed. After all, it's good to talk.
